Does your employer have the legal right to keep hold of your passport?
Q: I recently ended up my contract with my employer because of a medical grounds. Actually, we don`t have medical insurance, we are working 17 hours and I am not getting any assistance from the company. After submitting my resignation letter, my employer accepted it but requested me to leave the country then only after he will proceed with the cancellation. He finally agreed after a long period of negotiation. Now, the employment visa is cancelled and he forwarded me the residence cancellation where it`s clearly mentioned that I have until 08 December grace period. I asked him to give me back my passport which he is keeping it since I started working for the company and he refused, saying that only on the 19th Jan in reference to my flight date which is 20th of January. In between, I received an offer with three times the salary I used to get and a lot of benefits including health insurance. As per the labour law, does he have the right to keep hold of my passport even after cancellation of my employment visa?

Status of the employee at the end of a limited labour contract
Q: Dear Ma`am, My limited contract expired on the 22nd of November 2017, and my visa will expire on the 20th of January 2018. Is it possible for the employer to give me a non-renewal at this stage i.e. on 10th of January 2018? They have not renewed my contract to date. Is it an offence from the employer to decide a non-renewal at this point? Kindly share your opinion. Your suggestions are really appreciated as soon as possible. Thanks

Q: We started a company in 2011 in JLT Dubai with X and Y as shareholders registered in the Memorandum of Association "MoA". Q: Respected Sir/ Madam, My name is Rehna PG, living in Kuwait with my cousin. My husband divorced me and married another woman 7 months back. Claiming benefits for termination without a valid reason
Q: I am working in the HR department in one of the private companies for the last 12 years. Last week I received a redundancy letter from the HR manager terminating me for reducing people. However, the actual reason is something else.
