Questions & Answers
My company terminated me for misappropriative conduct after filing a case for nonpayment of salary. What to do?
Good afternoon,
My company terminated my contract today, 26 June, alleging misappropriative conduct, and this needs to be appealed because I didn't commit a fault.
However, since June 2024, the company has not paid me 10 months' salary (I already filed a case in MOHRE the last 19 June).
My questions are:
1. Can I claim the WPP insurance, even with the letter of termination? I understood that this insurance is for unpaid wages.
2. ILOE, I do not know if I can claim ILOE with this letter, because the allegation will take time to get a new termination letter, but I need some income to support me and my family.
Thank you for your answers.
Good afternoon,
Thank you for reaching out.
Regarding your situation:
Wage Protection Insurance (WPP): This scheme is intended to address unpaid salaries. Since you've already filed a case with MOHRE for unpaid wages, you may be eligible to claim compensation under this scheme.
However, the process depends on specific conditions, including the outcome of your labour complaint.
Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE): Claiming ILOE benefits can be challenging if your termination was marked as "misconduct."
You may need to appeal the reason for termination or wait for an amended termination letter if your appeal is successful. Timing is key here, especially if you require immediate financial support.
To evaluate your eligibility and take the right steps, we recommend booking a legal consultation or appointing our firm to act on your behalf.
We are ready to support you.
Hello,
Thank you for reaching out. Based on the information you've shared, you appear eligible to proceed with both the Workers' Protection Programme (WPP) and the Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) insurance claims.
The WPP is specifically designed to protect employees in cases of unpaid wages—regardless of termination reason—and since you've reported 10 months of unpaid salary and already filed a complaint with MOHRE, this path remains valid.
Regarding ILOE, you may qualify provided your insurance has been active for at least 12 consecutive months and the termination letter clearly states “termination” (not “resignation” or “misconduct”).
I recommend ensuring the claim is submitted within 30 days of termination and gathering the necessary documents (termination letter, attested contract, bank statements, visa cancellation, and entry/exit report).
If needed, I’d be happy to assist you in preparing the required submissions or reviewing your documentation.
Kind regards,
Dear Questioner,
Good afternoon, and thank you for reaching out to us regarding your current employment situation in the UAE.
We acknowledge the seriousness of your matter, and we are here to assist you with the proper legal steps. Based on the details you have provided, please find our guidance below:
Wage Protection Program (WPP) Insurance Claim:
Since you mentioned that your employer has not paid your salary for the past 10 months and you have already filed a case with MOHRE (as of 19 June 2024), you may be eligible to claim benefits under the Wage Protection Program (WPP).
This program is primarily designed to support workers who have not received their salaries, even in cases of termination.
However, eligibility and payouts are evaluated on a case-by-case basis and typically require a valid labor complaint.
We can assist in filing and following up your claim with the appropriate authorities.
Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) Insurance Claim:
ILOE is intended to provide temporary financial support to employees who lose their jobs involuntarily, provided the termination was not due to disciplinary action or resignation.
Since the company issued a termination letter alleging "misconduct," this could initially affect your eligibility.
However, as you rightly mentioned, this allegation is being disputed and is subject to legal proceedings. In the meantime, we recommend submitting your ILOE claim and providing supporting documents, including your MOHRE complaint reference and evidence disputing the allegation.
We can assist in drafting a formal appeal to the ILOE insurance office and guide you through the procedure to maximize your chances of a successful claim.
Next Steps:
We recommend scheduling a consultation:
- Review your employment contract and termination letter;
- Assist with your ongoing MOHRE case;
- File or appeal WPP and ILOE claims appropriately;
- Take further legal action, if necessary, to claim your unpaid wages and seek compensation for wrongful termination.
Please do not hesitate to contact me to schedule your consultation or if you have additional documents to share. We are committed to assisting you every step of the way.
Kind regards,
Mohammad Salah

Good afternoon, and thank you for reaching out.
I understand how distressing it must be to face termination while already dealing with 10 months of unpaid salary.
You're absolutely right to question the company's allegations, especially if there was no fault on your part.
First, regarding the Wage Protection Payment (WPP) scheme, this is typically designed to assist workers facing wage delays where the employer is clearly at fault.
Since your termination is recent and you have already filed a complaint with MOHRE on 19 June, you may still be eligible to pursue your unpaid wages through that route, but the WPP claim process may depend on whether your employer is registered and compliant within the system.
That’s something we can assess and push forward if needed.
As for ILOE (Involuntary Loss of Employment Insurance), if your termination was for “misconduct,” it can complicate eligibility.
However, if the termination is still being disputed and you plan to appeal, you can explore a claim under the argument that the termination was arbitrary or procedurally invalid.
Often, insurers require a final MOHRE or court determination before processing, but we can initiate contact with the insurer in parallel while appealing the misconduct label.
To protect your rights, I strongly recommend that we act quickly to file an appeal, challenge the misconduct termination, and escalate your salary claim through the court if MOHRE mediation does not work. I’d be happy to assist you fully with this matter.
Please reach out to me directly through WhatsApp or phone so we can discuss your case in detail and begin taking action without delay.
