On what basis GOSI is taken from an expatriate employee? Is it being deducted from his basic salary or even from other allowances (Transport/Housing)?

The GOSI deductions are made from the salary of local Bahrainis and expatriates both.

But the GOSI deductions will only be paid to the Bahrainis after their retirement or being fired from their job while for expatriate employees there is the provision of indemnity in the Labor Law of Bahrain.

The basis of the deduction is as follows:

By the law, all Bahraini employees should pay 19% of their full salary including the allowances (12% being the employer share, and 7% being the employee share).

For the expatriates 4% of the full salary including the allowances (3% being the employer share, and 1% being the expat employee share).
