What if a bank requests proof of old crypto transactions, but it's unavailable?

Hello,

My bank is asking for transaction clarifications for transactions I did through Binance P2P.

Those are some crypto I saved earlier, and I don't have any proof for them as they are from meme coins and very early investments.

Hello,

According to UAE law, you are required to provide documents or evidence that support the source of the cryptocurrency involved in the transactions.

If there is difficulty in providing proof, you can contact a specialized lawyer to help you present the necessary clarifications.

We specialize in such cases, and you can contact us via WhatsApp for further legal support and assistance.

This is the email I got from the bank:

Please clarify the significant funds transferred to XXXX, amounting to 139,800.00 AED in 7 transactions.

Kindly elaborate on the purpose of the transactions along with supporting documents such as agreements, contracts, receipts, invoices, and bills, as well as your relationship with this counterparty.

What will happen if I can't give the details before the mentioned date?

Even if you don’t have direct proof, you can provide a formal written explanation that includes:

1. Explain the nature of the transactions: Tell them that you were using Binance P2P to buy some cryptocurrencies like meme coins as a personal investment a long time ago.

2. Explain the source of the funds: If you used your bank account to buy cryptocurrencies, you can explain that to them.

3. State that the coins are still stored: Tell them that you didn’t do any illegal transactions or money laundering, it was just personal investments.

4. Send any screenshots or data from Binance: If you don’t have invoices, try to get a statement from Binance P2P showing past transactions.
