How long does it take to remove an administrative ban after submitting a mercy plea?
Hi,
I want to know how long it will take to remove the administrative ban. My lawyer submitted the mercy plea with supporting documents in December 2023.
I contacted the Dubai prosecution, and they said it will take time, but it's been one year, and still no decision has been made.
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.
The duration for removing an administrative ban in the UAE can vary, and it may take several weeks to months for a decision to be made after submitting a mercy plea.
Since you submitted your plea in December 2023 and have already contacted the prosecution, it’s important to remain patient during this process.
If you haven't received updates, consider following up with your lawyer or the relevant authorities for more information on your case status.
Thanks & Regards,
ABDUL WAHIED

Dear Questioner,
Thank you for reaching out!
I understand your concern regarding the removal of the administrative ban and the delay in receiving a decision on your mercy plea.
In relation to your query, the process for removing an administrative ban, especially when a mercy plea has been submitted with supporting documents, can indeed vary depending on several factors such as the complexity of the case, the workload of the authorities involved, and the nature of the offense.
- Timeline for Decision:
While it's not uncommon for administrative cases to take some time for a final decision, one year without any update may be considered a prolonged period.
The time frame can depend on the specific circumstances of your case and the discretion of the prosecution. However, under normal circumstances, the process can take anywhere from several months to a year.
- Mercy Plea Status:
It's good that your lawyer submitted a mercy plea along with the supporting documents. While the authorities might take time to review such requests, if you haven't received a decision or communication regarding the plea after such a lengthy period, you may wish to follow up with the relevant authorities or request an official status update.
- Next Steps:
If you continue to experience significant delays, your lawyer could consider escalating the matter by seeking additional follow-ups or requesting a formal response.
Depending on the situation, it may also be worth exploring alternative legal options to expedite the decision, if permissible under UAE law.
In some cases, authorities may have a backlog of cases, and this could be contributing to the delay. However, if you're looking to move forward and receive a decision, it may be helpful to engage in further discussions with your lawyer to explore the possibility of a more proactive approach.
Please let me know if you'd like further assistance or if you'd prefer that we take additional steps to communicate with the relevant authorities.
Best regards,
