Does hiring an Emirati with a pending pension approval count towards the Emiratisation percentage?
Hello,
We just hired an Emirati, and she has a 2-year work permit. However, we are still processing her pension as it is under approval.
Will this be counted in the Emiratisation percentage?
Thank you!
Hello,
According to UAE law, the Emirati employee can still be counted towards the Emiratisation percentage even if her pension processing is still under approval, as long as she is legally employed and meets the other required conditions.
It is important to ensure the pension process is completed as soon as possible for full compliance.

According to UAE labor law, the Emiratization percentage is calculated based on the number of Emirati employees in a company's workforce.
This includes both full-time and part-time employees, as well as those on work permits.
Therefore, if the Emirati employee is on a 2-year work permit and is actively working for the company, they should be counted in the Emiratization percentage, even if their pension is still under approval.
As long as the Emirati national has a valid work permit and is officially employed, she is counted towards the Emiratisation quota.
However, to ensure full compliance and avoid any future complications, her registration with the pension fund should be completed as soon as possible.
Dear Client,
Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.
Yes, the Emirati employee you just hired can be counted in the Emiratisation percentage, even if her pension is still under approval.
As long as she possesses a valid work permit and is registered with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), she will contribute to your Emiratisation quota.
It's important to ensure that her employment details are correctly documented and reported to comply with Emiratisation regulations, which require companies to increase their Emirati workforce annually.
Thanks & Regards,
