The probation period normally works for both employers and employees.

It is unlawful for your employer to keep your passport. If your employer refuses to return your passport, my advice is to file a complaint at a police station/ involve your embassy.

Furthermore, if you intend to return to your home country, your employer is obligated to provide the ticket for your return to your home country.
