How to know if there is a case or travel ban if someone left the UAE with unpaid Du bills?

Hello Lawyers,

Back in 2015, my sister was living with my mom in Dubai.

She bought an iPhone on a plan with Du during that time. After a few months and due to circumstances, she had to go back to our country.

She took the phone but left the sim here and to my and my mom's knowledge, she didn't finish paying the remaining balance.

My question is if she wants to come back here to Dubai, what kind of penalty she will face?

Is she going to have a travel ban?

Or will immigration stop her when entering the country?

I tried searching in Dubai Police but unfortunately, she doesn't have the EID now.

Thank you in Advance.

Hello,

Unpaid bills or debts can sometimes result in legal action by the company (Du) if the amount is significant and they’ve been unable to recover it.

If there is an active legal case, your sister may be flagged at immigration upon entry. We can assist you in conducting a travel ban check.

For a detailed discussion, kindly share your Whatsapp number.

Dear questioner

There are fewer chances for a travel ban, however, if we want to check we can check it from here for the pending dues, she can pay the same while entering the UAE.

You can also complete the due payments on her behalf after inquiring about the same with DU company.

The imposition of a travel ban or any other restrictions depends upon the amount and company policy.

If you need our assistance in your matter, kindly share your Whatsapp number to discuss.

If an individual leaves the UAE without settling outstanding financial obligations, such as unpaid mobile phone bills, it could potentially lead to certain consequences.

In some cases, the telecom provider may take legal action to recover the outstanding amount. This could include filing a lawsuit or seeking a court order, but not necessary.

In order to avoid the risk, we can conduct a travel ban check on behalf of her. so, any orders, charges, penalties, or fines issued in her name will be identified.

Kindly share your WhatsApp number to discuss further about the procedures.

Greetings

An amount less than 10 thousand dirhams does not prevent travel.

We can inquire through her passport whether she has a lawsuit or an arrest warrant. Send a picture of her passport on WhatsApp.

We are honored to provide you with legal support. For further inquiries about your topic, you can come to our office or contact us on WhatsApp.

Thank you for reaching out regarding your sister's situation with the outstanding DU bill from 2015.

In the UAE, unpaid debts can lead to legal actions, including travel bans or entry restrictions. However, such measures are typically imposed when a creditor initiates legal proceedings and obtains a court order.

Given the time elapsed since 2015, it's possible that DU may have taken legal action, which could result in a travel ban or entry restriction.

To ascertain if any such measures are in place, it's advisable to check for any travel bans or legal cases associated with your sister.

The Dubai Police offers an online service to check for travel bans due to financial cases in Dubai.

This service requires an Emirates ID number; however, if your sister no longer possesses her Emirates ID, alternative methods may be necessary.

Given the complexities and potential legal implications, it would be prudent for your sister to consult with a legal professional who can assist in checking for any existing travel bans or legal cases and advise on the appropriate steps to resolve the matter.

If you need further assistance or wish to discuss this matter in detail, please feel free to contact me via WhatsApp, phone, or email.

Best regards,

Suhail Rana
