Can a separated Christian Filipina marry a Muslim in the UAE?

If you say in a UAE court that you are divorced, they will ask for a divorce certificate.

If you say you are only separated, they will not approve your marriage.

If you say you are not married and they approve your marriage, it will be invalid, and you may face problems later with your husband in the Philippines.

Yeah, we are just separated and have had no communication since then.

But we never pursued annulment because it's expensive, and in the Philippines, we don't have divorce.

However, some people got married when the lady converted to Islam. Is that legal?

I mean because they say it will only be allowed if you convert to Islam.

Also, there is a territorial law that an ex-husband cannot sue an ex-wife who had a second marriage in another country because the second marriage was done in another country.

I don't know the laws in the Philippines, but Islam does not invalidate marriages between non-Muslims.

Try to obtain any certificate regarding this matter from the Philippine Embassy in the UAE.
