Questions & Answers
Go to Saudi Arabia for a company project or resign and pay visa expenses. What to do?
Hi,
My visa was renewed four days ago in the same company. After the visa renewal, the company is demanding that I go to Saudi Arabia for a one-year project with a Saudi business visa.
However, I do not want to go to Saudi Arabia. The company is giving me only one choice: either I go to Saudi Arabia or resign and pay the expenses of the visa renewal.
What should I do?
Hello,
I'm Sakina Dickenwala from MBC Legal.
If the employer is asking you to get transferred to Saudi Arabia and it is not mentioned in the contract, then you can take action on this and it is not legal to demand renewal expenses.
However, we need to review your contract terms to provide you with the best solution.
I am available via phone and email for further assistance.
Hello dear questioner,
According to the provisions of the law, it is not permissible to force a worker to work or move to another workplace other than what was agreed upon unless the worker agrees to that.
You can file a complaint with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization. The UAE Labor Law also stipulates that the employer is not permitted to collect visa fees from the worker.
For any reason, for further clarification, share your WhatsApp number.
Dear Inquirer,
We are pleased to serve you and address your inquiries.
The workplace is subject to the agreement of both parties, and cases of resignation are regulated by the provisions of the law.
If anything else is required, don’t hesitate to contact us via email or call our offices in Dubai or Sharjah.
