Getting a refund from a company that failed to provide the agreed freelance visa
Dear Sir/Madam,
I enlisted the services of a company to help facilitate a Dubai freelance visa almost 6 months ago.
My attempts to seek clarification/updates from the company have been met with inconsistent responses, each inquiry yielding a different excuse for the delay.
I have now requested a full refund via email, but have been met with another excuse to delay the refund and likely not receive it in full.
I need legal advice.
Dear Questioner,
According to UAE law, companies are required to provide services in a timely and efficient manner. If a company fails to do so, the client has the right to request a refund for the services that were not provided.
In your case, it seems that the company has not fulfilled its obligations and has caused you inconvenience and financial loss.
You have the right to request a full refund and the company is legally obligated to provide it.
You can take the following steps to resolve this issue:
1. Send a written complaint to the company:
Write a formal letter or email to the company stating your dissatisfaction with their services and requesting a full refund. Keep a copy of this communication for your records.
2. Seek assistance from a consumer protection agency:
You can file a complaint with the Dubai Consumer Protection Agency or the Department of Economic Development. They can help mediate the issue and ensure that your rights as a consumer are protected.
3. File a case in court:
If the company refuses to provide a refund or fails to respond to your complaint, you can file a case in the Dubai Courts. You will need to provide evidence of the company's failure to provide the services and your attempts to resolve the issue.
It is important to note that the UAE has strict laws against fraud and companies that fail to fulfill their obligations can face legal consequences.
You have the right to seek legal advice and take legal action to protect your rights as a consumer.
