Civil and criminal case for cheque bounce
My friend is in jail for a cheque bounce case. The criminal case is over and now they have filed a lawsuit in civil court for repayment of the disputed amount.
1) If I pay the amount in full in court on behalf of him, can he be released because the court has not passed any verdict against him in the civil case?
2) How much time will it take to get him out of jail after repayment of the money?
Please guide me and thanks for your help.

Dear Questioner,
Thanks for contacting.
On going through the details it seems to be that your friend is in jail for the sentence passed in the criminal case and no appeal is preferred over that judgment.
If he can give a POA to you in the civil case, you can appear personally in the case or else you can appoint a lawyer to represent and contest the case by submitting your defences and try to get a favourable judgment, or you can pay the amount.
Your friend can come out of jail only once his sentence in the criminal case is finished, provided no appeal against it.
