Q: I joined the company in April 2000 and now I am leaving the company. Just to let you know that in 2009 the company had given every employee their end of service benefits and made everyone sign one paper. My question is that during that time my basic salary was less but now it has increased. As per now, it looks like the company will only pay the end of service benefits from 2009 till date. Q: After my termination, to close my residence visa sponsored by my company, I have to sign an Arabic letter in which there is an undertaking that all the dues are received. However, my company is not clear when they will settle my dues like gratuity, leave salary...etc. In addition, the company's financial condition is not good. I am getting a doubt that once we exit the UAE after visa cancellation, we may not get our dues paid. I don't want to take legal steps against my company. Kindly advise.

Q: I was a Project Manager for a company. After 9 years of my service, the company has terminated my services for the last 45 days (Because work is less & they want to downsize the staff strength). I don't mind going back to my country, but they are expecting me to sign an Arabic letter stating that all my dues are paid, for the closure of my visa which is getting over on 07.10.2017. Since the financial condition of the company is not good, they are not in a position to settle my gratuity & other benefits. They are not giving any clear-cut date on which they will settle my dues. My worry is that once I sign the Arabic letter & my visa is cancelled, I cannot continue in the UAE beyond 28 days after visa cancellation. I don't want to go against the company to pursue legal step, but at the same time, I am worried about my dues that I may be denied once I sign the Arabic letter & I am out of the UAE. Please advise what I have to do?

Q: Last April 19, 2018, the company that I am working with issued a demobilization letter terminating my services due to the projects being at their finality. I accepted the letter and prepared everything for my departure after 30 days. They asked me to sign the cancellation of visa letter but I refused because I want my final settlement first. I was supposed to leave on May 19, 2018, but still, the final payment was not yet given. So, I stayed until my visa expired last June 10, 2018. I asked them several times about my final payment but they kept on saying there were no funds available. On June 24, 2018, our HR head called me and asked me to sign my visa cancellation and told me that in 2 to 3 days they will give my final payment. I signed the visa cancellation since my visa was already expired that time anyways. To make the story short, up until now they have not paid my final payment and I am still here working in my company without a visa and medical insurance. I will stay until they pay me.

Q: Dear Sirs, I am 61 years old Electrical Engineer, have worked for a company in the UAE for 10 years and I was terminated in November 2018 for force reduction due to lack of projects. As the company was experiencing problems in their cash flow, I was made to sign a letter agreement to cover my EOSB, which should be paid on monthly instalments starting December 2018 until July 2019. Unfortunately, out of the 8 instalments only one was received on May 2019, and all are empty promises; the reason is the company's lack of funds. I am staying out of the country but has still a Dubai valid visa. Could you please advise how could I recover the remaining EOSB from the company while remaining out of the country as it is very expensive to stay in Dubai without work.
