Unclaimed vacation days and ticket costs: Am I entitled to compensation?

Greetings,

If I have been employed by a company based in the Dubai Free Zone (DFZ) for three years and resign without taking any vacation leave during that period, is the company legally obligated to reimburse me for my accrued vacation days and ticket costs in addition to my gratuity?

Can the company refuse to pay these fees because I did not utilize my vacation time?

Thank you!

Dear Client,

Thanks for your question! I hope you are doing well. I will assist you in this matter.

In the UAE, gratuity is legally mandated and must be paid upon resignation. The reimbursement of unused annual leave days and ticket fees is typically determined by company policies and the terms of your employment contract.

While gratuity is a statutory requirement, the reimbursement of these benefits may vary based on your company's specific policies.

Consult your employment contract and discuss with your company's HR department for clarification on their approach to these benefits upon resignation.
