The settlement of a bounced cheque case and removing a travel ban

7
Q: Dear sir/madam,
I have 3 checks amounting to 13980.00 AED bounced by my real estate but under a single case reference number.
There is a cheque bounce case since 2020 before the new law. The discussions with the third party were unsuccessful.
My concern is:
1. How much should I pay to remove my travel ban?
2. Will they collect my passport when I am paying?
3. Should I go to the police station in-person or someone can do it for me?
4. Will there be an arrest?
The cheque was from my SAIF zone company account and when it bounced, I closed the account. So the check bounce was on the grounds of a closed account.

How to remove a rental cheque case and travel ban after paying the amount in cash?
2
Q: Hey
I rent an apartment in a building managed by a bank and had a one-year contract. They changed the management after three months of the contract.
And then I had a bounced cheque so I went to the bank that was currently managing the building and paid them in cash. They said the old bank will send me my cheque back within a month.
But after a few months, I received a message from the police that I have a criminal case so I went to check and found out that I have a travel ban as well.
My mom was sick and I was traveling with her on Sunday and this happened on Thursday, 2 days before that.
I went to the bank and got to know that they received the email but yet they filed the case by mistake and until this day I haven’t received my cheque back. It’s been 10 months now.
Kindly let me know if I have a case.

Can I submit an affidavit by my husband to replace me in liability for cheque bounce in rental cases?

0
Q: I am reaching out for legal assistance regarding two rental cases filed in my name due to cheque bounce issues.
My name was used to set up a company by my husband, who holds a Power of Attorney (POA) for the business. Unfortunately, he signed cheques in my name that were issued for rental payments, leading to these cases.
My husband is prepared to provide an affidavit to the court, taking full responsibility for the legal matters associated with these cheques and affirming my lack of involvement in the company’s financial decisions.
Could you please guide me on the following?
1. The process to prepare and submit the affidavit in court to release me from liability in these cases.
2. Any required documentation or steps to support the affidavit.
3. The estimated costs for drafting, notarizing, and filing the affidavit, as well as any additional court fees.
Thank you for your guidance on this matter. I look forward to your advice on moving forward.

Can I cancel my house sale contract without extra fees after personal plans changed? 2
Dear Lawyers,
I signed a Form F with a buyer for the sale of my house as we were planning to leave the country. The contract was signed about a month ago, but the handover is not until August.
Due to personal circumstances changing, we are no longer leaving Dubai and would like to cancel Form F.
The Form F contract stipulates that we have to pay the buyer 10% of the purchase value. The real estate agent is now claiming that we also have to pay the buyer's real estate commission and the conveyancing fee.
Our understanding is that the 10% penalty is the only penalty. Which is correct, and what are the next steps to dispute this?
Also, is there any way to dispute the 10% itself under the law due to personal circumstances changing?

Tenant always late with payments, hasn't renewed contract. What to do? 2
Hello,
I have a tenant who is always late with their payment. Their renewal was supposed to be last December 2023.
Currently, they have not signed any new contract, provided any new cheques, and have stayed for three months from December until now without paying rent.
Additionally, I just discovered that they have sublet the apartment with partitions, which is clearly stated as not allowed in the old contract.
Please let me know what should I do legally!

Tenant received renewal notice, rejected proposed rent on renewal day. What next? 2
Hi,
We sent a renewal notice to our Dubai-based tenant 84 days before his contract renewal, with a 10% increase in rent.
The tenant neither agreed nor disagreed with the proposed rent and replied on the day of renewal that he wouldn't be paying the proposed rent.
Due to the argument, the landlord decided to reduce the rent, but the tenant has not yet renewed his contract. It has been 12 days since his contract expired.
Kindly suggest what could be done in this matter.

How can we claim our money back if the cheque we received have bounced for insufficient funds? 0
We received a cheque which has now bounced. We have tried for over a month and a half now to get a new cheque from the person, and every day he says the next day.
We need the money now. We have been to the police station, and they said they can not do anything as the reason the cheque bounced is "Insufficient funds."
We have been to Al Barsha - Dubai Courts, and they said there is nothing they can do about it.
We are not sure what we can do. We need the money asap to pay our kids' school fees, let alone all the interest we have lost.

Who is supposed to pay for the transfer fee, the employee or the employer? 0
Hello
I joined my new company on February 26, 2025. Upon joining the new company, I asked HR if it was free to join the company, and she said yes.
After working with them for 1 month, I experienced a salary delay, and I had to go to the office to ask why there was a delay in my salary.
That is when the HR told me she deducted my whole salary to recover the transfer fee.
Now my question is, who is supposed to pay for the transfer fee, the employee or the employer?

Can my old employer sue me for a non-compete clause that's only in the offer letter? 0
Hi,
I was previously working in a company based in DMCC and have now moved to Hamriyah Free Zone. In my DMCC contract, there was no mention of a non-compete, but my offer letter includes one.
Now, in my new organization, if my old customers start to contact me for business, am I liable for any legal action from my previous employer?
