With reference to your inquiry, kindly be informed that as per the given info, you shall be safe to work for the said client, provided that:

1. He is the one who requested hiring you. You haven't approached him at all.

2. If there's a Non-Competition clause, then it shall be determining a specific territory and a clear time-period, otherwise, it's useless.

3. Also bear in mind that the said Non-Competition Clause, is of no use at all, as long as you have not used any of your ex-employers info (or client's details).

You ex-employer shall prove that you have actually harmed him in a way or another by joining the said client, which will be utterly impossible for your ex-employer.
