A case and travel ban for a DU outstanding bill

Hi.

I received a message from du that they filed a case against me. I have an outstanding balance of AED 629.

They said that they have filed a legal case against me and even gave me a case number.

Upon checking my case number in Dubai court website, it was stating the case which was registered since 2017 and also a different case.

Do I really have a case now? And do I have a travel ban?

Thank you!

Dear Questioner,

With reference to your inquiry, kindly be informed that as per the given info, there is no case against you

DU always commence their proceedings by referring the outstanding payments to the collection departments/firms.

The number provided to you is your case number (file number) at DU itself.

The Travel Ban requires a minimum indebtedness amount of AED 10,000 (which is unlike your situation).

However, if DU has taken any sort of criminal legal action against you, that will definitely result in flagging your name on the borders, which will prevent you from travelling.

What I do recommend, is trying to contact DU in a way or another, and paying them even a small amount, just to be on the safe side.

Kind regards,

Sherif M. ElKhatib
