Can a landlord shut off the power to a tenant?

Good morning,

I am writing to inquire about whether my landlord has the right to shut off my power line, which is under my name.

They have done this to me several times, and I would like to know if this is legal.

Thank you for your help!

Dear Questioner,

The landlord or lessor is not entitled to disconnect the electricity to the leased property for any reason.

If this happens to you, you should immediately go to the nearest police station and file an urgent complaint.

The authorities will take the necessary steps to resolve your issue.

Dear user,

According to Article 34 of Law No 26 of 2007 on regulating the relationship between Landlords and Tenants in Dubai, the landlord is prohibited from disconnecting services to the property or preventing the tenant from benefiting from the property.
