Misconduct at the workplace and police complaint
One of the employees was called by our GM to the office for a business review as he is under the performance improvement plan.
He misbehaved during the meeting and was very disrespectful. It reached a level where our GM advised him to leave the laptop and access card followed by HR action.
He further misbehaved and abruptly left the company. He went to the police station and registered a false allegation for abuse and assault.
Thoughts, please.
Dear questioner,
I believe that the GM who attended the meeting will be called for his statement by the police department.
Whoever has more evidence and proof to his story will be in the better position before the authorities.
However, without solid evidence or witness statement, both stories will be very weak. The police investigation has its own ways and considerations for such an incident.
I would suggest that the GM attends to the police investigation and afterwards to have a one to one meeting with one of our legal advisors to get a proper legal advice and representation.
