Time frame for being contacted by police on a bounced cheque
I have a question regarding a cheque I wrote and bounced on September 25. The bounced cheque was reported to the police.
My question is, how long will it take before the police call me as I’m trying to arrange the funds in 2 weeks?
Would that be realistic or will I be called immediately after the bounced cheque is reported?
Dear questioner,
The police may call you any minute after the time the complaint was filed.
They may get busy because of their regular duties and your complaint must be in the queue to be called and asked to pay the amount.
In case they cannot reach you, the complaint is secure as your name becomes listed as wanted.
So, if - for example - you are driving your car down the street one day and a police officer realizes by checking your car’s plate number that it is owned by a wanted person, they may stop the car to check if you are the one driving it or not.
If not, they may stop the driver to ask him/her about your location.
The same applies to you when you try to travel outside the country where your name will be listed as wanted at all the airports, seaports and land exists.
