Can my landlord evict me if I refuse a rent increase?

Dear Sir/Madam,

The landlord sent me a 90-day notice for a rent increase in his personal email.

The email address he used was not the one listed on the tenancy contract. Is this notice legally binding?

His rent increase exceeds the RERA index by a lot. If I refuse the increase, can he evict me?

Dear Questioner,

No, he cannot evict you yet. You need to file a complaint with the Land Department for him demanding high rent.

Kindly contact us via phone or email for further assistance.

Hi,

It will be acceptable if the landlord has provided details of the contract or introduced himself as a landlord in the email.

Moreover, the rental increase should be in accordance with the RERA index. If it is not, you can request in RDC to renew your contract in accordance with the RERA index.
