I resigned without notice due to the non-payment of salaries. Can they claim compensation?

Hi Sir,

I have a question regarding my employer.

I worked for over 9 years in a restaurant company here in Dubai. The problem was that I submitted an immediate resignation via email without the 30 days notice period.

According to them, they will deduct my 1-month salary because of that.

Is it okay to deduct my salary even though they're the reason why the employees are resigning due to not giving the pending salaries?

We have 8 pending salaries until now.

Please help me with this matter, Sir.

You may resign immediately if salaries are delayed for 60 days.

The worker can submit a complaint to the Ministry of Labor over the phone at 80060 or the website (www.mohre..gov.ae).

Yes, they have the right or you need to serve or pay this month's salary.

Thank you for answering. But Sir, We had 8 months pending salaries since last year and this year.

They kept on promising us that they will give the money but they don't.

As for the gratuity, my concern was that they hold it and say that it will take time. A lot of staff resigned, they waited for 5-6 months before they've got the backpay.

How can I get my money immediately because I have a job waiting for me in another country and badly needed it for my personal expenses there (flight ticket/accommodation rent)?

You may file a labor complaint to claim labor dues.
