Consequences of taking a new job offer after already accepting one

Hello Hari,

I received an offer from a company in Dubai. I have received the offer letter, signed labour contract and received my visa. My joining is scheduled for next month.

Now, I have received 2 more offers, one from Saudi and one more from Dubai.

What are the consequences if I am taking one more offer from Dubai? What will happen to my Visa?

If I am taking the offer from Saudi, what will the consequences be?

Please help.

Dear Mr Mohammed,

Thank you for getting in touch with me on this.

Let us establish your position- You are as of today an employee in a Dubai company with whom you have a valid labour contract and their employment visa.

It does not matter that the date of joining is after a month.

Consequences if you take up alternate employment from Dubai or Saudi:

1- Alternate Employment from Dubai- You will have to first give your resignation to your current employer so that the employer cancels your visa and contract.

The consequences can be that the employer may impose a labour ban of one year considering you breached terms of the labour contract and your reasons for terminating are not connected to employment.

This labour ban will not allow you to work with the new company (unless the new company is in a free zone; then the labour ban is not applicable)

2- Alternate Employment from Saudi Arabia- You are free to accept Saudi Employment. However, if you do not terminate your current employment, then there will be an absconding case and you will be banned from even entering the UAE.

However, if you send a resignation letter, then the labour ban I mentioned above will not affect the Saudi employment and you can work in Saudi without any consequences.

I trust I have dealt with your query.

You may contact me on hari.wadhwana@gmail.com or contact on 052-9495731 for further assistance.

Regards,

Hari Wadhwana

Sorry, I did not add an important point. I am currently working in India.

Even though, if you have signed the labour contract, then there will be a ban on you.
