What is the punishment if you have no money to cover the amount of a bounced cheque?
My friend has a cheque bounce of 15000 dirhams and he is in jail but he does not have money to pay.
What will the consequences for it be since he does not have the money to pay and his documents are also not valid?

The penalty for writing a cheque without balance is in the form of imprisonment and a fine that usually ranges between a minimum of 1,000 dirhams and a maximum of 30,000 dirhams, and the court can also take a decision to imprison the accused.
Regarding the term of imprisonment in the presence of a check without balance, It is a period ranging from one to three years, and if the defendant proves his good faith to pay the debt or that there is an emergency circumstance that forced him to withdraw the amount, the penalty is limited to a fine only.
