Is it legal for the hiring company to ask the employee for visa costs?
Sir,
I have received a contract appointment letter for an LLC company in Abu Dhabi, and I was instructed to "contact the immigration attorney in charge of processing all documents/permits for selected candidates (a travel agency) and shoulder all the expenses for the processing, procurement, and acquisition of their necessary permit’s clearance papers with the Ministry of Interior".
My question is: do I have to pay for processing the documents? And is the contract appointment letter a contract?
Please, your immediate response is highly appreciated.
Dear User,
Please be informed that it is illegal for an employer to make the employee bear the recruitment costs and if they do so, then it is a scam offer and they are trying to take your money.
Furthermore, do not use the travel agency that they have told you to go to as they are probably working together to scam individuals.
Please do not give them any documents or any money. A real job offer will cover your recruitment costs and visa costs.
Regards.
