I'm here in Sharjah on my visit visa, and I got a job in a company. But after 2 months and 19 days, they refused to continue my job.
I'm okay with it, but they are not giving me my salary, and they have my passport also. My visa is going to expire on January 4, 2023, as I already informed them.
I also have an offer letter. what can I do now?
It is illegal for your employer to keep your passport.
In fact, employers in the UAE who withhold workers' passports can be jailed and fined up to 20,000 dirhams.
UAE government officials have repeatedly stated that an employer should not keep a worker's passport.
If your employer keeps your passport and refuses to return it to you, you can go to the nearest police station, or you can go to your embassy in the country to file a complaint.
Please be aware that you have all the necessary rights and privileges to have your own passport and you have all the rights to question your employer if he insists on keeping it with him.
I hope what I mentioned above makes the point you are asking about for help.
The worker can submit a complaint to the Ministry of Labor over the phone 80060 or the website (www.mohre..gov.ae)
