Questions & Answers
Can you lift a ban for old TB scars and get a visa to the UAE?
When my wife came to the UAE on an employment visa and she did her medical fitness test, she failed due to a lung scar (Old TB).
Now I have a job in the UAE and want to bring my wife back on my sponsorship. Please let me know if I can apply for her visa under me or if there is a chance that it will be rejected.
Is there any way to lift the ban?

Pursuant to your query, all matters related to medical fitness tests fall under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (the ‘Health Ministry’).
If TB scars are no longer existing on her lungs, she may be able to lift the immigration ban imposed on her based on the provisions of Cabinet Resolution No. 5 of 2016 of UAE.
She will be required to undergo a medical examination in the home country for TB and obtain a medical fitness report from a government-approved medical Centre.
Thereafter, notarise and legalize the medical fitness report, which states she has no TB-related scars or illness.
Once the above is completed, she may send the attested medical fitness report and the power of attorney granted to you or a relative who is residing in the UAE.
Finally, once you or the relative receives the aforementioned documents, you will need to attest to them at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the UAE.
The documents may be submitted to the ministry’s medical fitness center, where she had undergone medical fitness tests previously.
Based on the documents submitted, the Ministry and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (the ‘GDRFA’) may lift the immigration ban.
You may contact the Ministry and GDRFA in the emirate where her residence/employment visa was previously rejected due to TB scars for any further queries in this regard.
