How can I know if I have a travel ban in a maintenance case raised by my ex-wife?

Hello,

I’m a UAE resident based in Abu Dhabi and my ex-wife and kids stay in Kuwait, she raised a case in the UAE court for expenses for children.

I didn't get any notification and it doesn't appear in the MOJ system, while she shared a document showing my travel ban.

Can you advise how I can remove the travel ban?

What are the next steps to be taken from my side?

Can we follow my country's law for kids' expenses?

Is it possible to cancel the case here as she is not a UAE resident and claim it back in my home country?

For family disputes, you should not get a travel ban unless with a court order or judicial judgment.

For following up on your case, you do need the case number and the court in which the case is heard.

Thank you for the reply, Where can I check the case follow-up?

You should have the case number to follow your case situation.

It is preferable to submit a request to lift the travel ban to the UAE Grievance Department, which is available in each emirate, rather than to submit it to the same judge who issued the travel ban because he often does not accept it.

It is possible that someone will take over the task of lifting the travel ban in the UAE instead of you, provided that he holds a power of attorney from you.

The wife, even if she is not a resident, can file a lawsuit against her husband anywhere in the world by hiring a lawyer from the country where he resides as long as he has a known place of residence.

Thank you for your reply.

Are there any documents to be submitted to lift the travel ban?

Documents required to make the travel ban check include clear colored copies of:

- your valid passport,

- your residency permit (most recent residence visa page),

- your expired passport (if your residence visa is stamped there),

- the most recent exit stamp (if any),

- your Emirates ID (if any).
