A father is threatening to put a travel ban on his daughter. Is this possible?

Dear sir/madam,

I am a 27-year-old Emirati woman. I have left to the USA to work and study and I am back here on vacation.

My father is threatening to put a ban on me in order not to allow me to travel, but I am way above the legal age; turning 28 in 3 months.

Is this possible?

And can I do anything to stop it?

Welcome,

No, it is not possible, because now you are responsible for yourself and your decisions.

You can travel to and from the Emirates whenever you want.

Dear questioner,

Unless you are married, your father will still be able to impose a travel ban on you at any time in his capacity as a guardian.

However, you can submit a motion to lift the travel ban for the purpose of studying abroad to the judge of the urgent matters, where the judge will act on behalf of your father and will lift the ban for your own interest.

Fast actions are required in this situation.

If I am married but not in the UAE, only in the USA, will it be accredited here?

Yes for sure, but you have to attest the marriage certificate before USA MOFA, MOJ, and UAE embassy then once you arrive in the UAE get on more attestation from UAE MOFA, MOJ and then submit the document to the ministry of interior, personal affairs department so that they change your material status from single to married, then your father will have no power over you anymore.
