How can an ex-pat Muslim woman marry in the UAE while the family refuses?
Hi,
I am a Muslim woman (ex-pat) 24 years of age and would like to do an Islamic marriage here in the UAE. The man is Muslim, 27 years of age, and an ex-pat living here in the UAE.
I am under my family's sponsorship, but my family does not approve of this marriage.
Is there a way I can register the marriage here? And what would be the required documents for this process?
Thanks!
Dear questioner,
We wish you a happy marriage!
If the family insists on refusing, you can submit a request to the judge with the intransigence of the family, and then the judge will marry you and replace the guardian.
Provide two witnesses. The required papers are:
- Original birth certificates.
- The passport for you and the groom.
- Residence provided that it is valid.
- Health fitness certificate.
- Certificate of proof of marital status for the newlyweds (married, single, or divorced), and the certificate is certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the expatriate.
