Questions & Answers
Can the landlord raise the rent right after signing the tenancy contract?
Hi,
I recently moved to a flat. The tenancy contract is done, it's only been a week now, and the real estate person tells me that the owner has increased the rent.
How can I seek this out?
So unfair.

Hi,
Once the contract is signed between the Tenant and the Landlord, the landlord cannot increase the rent during the contract period.
Any increase in the rent can only be done at the time of the renewal of the contract and for the same, he will need to give you a written notice at least 90 days before the expiry of the contract.
You can send him a written notification that this is in violation of the UAE law and the landlord can make any change in the contract only at the time of the renewal.

Dear Questioner,
Pursuant to the query, he cannot simply just increase the rent. He has to serve you the proper notice as per law.
You have to pay only the rent as per your contract. Further, we need to see your tenancy contract to give you proper advice.
Kindly contact us by phone.
Thank you.

He must inform you 3 months before the renewal of the contract.

Hi,
Please note that the landlord cannot abruptly increase the rent.
Kindly let us know how you were informed of this increase.
