Q: Dear Advisors, One of my friends borrowed AED 12,000 from me in May 2018. He said he will return the money in one month, but he didn’t. I asked many times. 7 months later, he returned AED 5,000. But he is not returning my balance amount of AED 7,000 now after nearly 17 months. I am in Dubai. He is in Abu Dhabi. He runs a structural steel company. Every time he keeps changing the date. I have WhatsApp chatting. How can I get my money back? Please help me.

Q: I lent AED 90000 to my friend as a personal favour in 2016, to help his business. We agreed without interest on repayment. I have taken his personal cheque as a security. No agreement made. My friend is not returning the money as agreed. I want to make a written agreement with my friend now. Please advise on the procedure for this in the UAE.

Q: I gave one of my friends AED 50,000 back in Aug 2019 as a "Friendly Loan", and he promised to give it back within 45 days as he was facing some financial issues which I helped him based on our previous relationship. I have from him a written letter with his name and signature stating that I gave him the money and he will return it within 45 days. The payment was delayed and I kept asking him when he can repay the money. He was giving lots of excuses on the market which I gave him lots of break time to repay even with instalments to make it easier on him and can repay the loan but until now, we are in the same position. He jumps from a story to another until I could not believe him any more that he will return the money. I have many Whatsapp chats, his car registration and I would like to know how can I proceed to get my money from him and what will it cost me for that? All my letters and conversations are in Arabic.

Q: I have lent money to my friend multiple times over the last year with cheques as a guarantee. Unfortunately, the cheque expired 2 days ago and he has not paid 90% of the money since he says he has no funds anymore. I have bank statements to prove the transfer to his account. I need your advice to see if I can raise a court case against him and what will the process be. Thanks
