Is it possible to challenge an imprisonment judgment issued in absentia?
Hi there,
I used to live in Dubai till Jan 2015. However, I traveled overseas to get married but I had an accident due to which I was bedridden and now am in a wheelchair.
I can't work because of my health and also I suffer from anxiety and depression. I had a loan from a bank and the cheque was bounced for 89k and the Sharjah court gave a verdict of 6 months imprisonment in absentia. My question is:
Can this imprisonment be changed to a fine?

Dear questioner,
If the Sharjah imprisonment judgment was issued in your absence (from all hearings), then you have the legal right to challenge this judgment. We expect that the judgment would be easily changed into a fine.
We could help you with doing the abovementioned, please contact us through phone call or Whatsapp.

Dear questioner,
If you got the judgment without the attendance of the hearing, you have a right to file an objection to the judgment.
Kindly contact us via phone or email for more details.
