Court order to cancel the labour card after company closure

My employer is no longer available in the UAE and also not contactable, and I want to cancel my labour card.

The MOHRE told me to get a paper from Dubai Courts and then we will cancel your labour card.

Is it possible to get the paper from Dubai Courts? My company closed four years ago and they sent us to our country, but after they did not cancel my labour card.

Yes, it is very possible to get that paper from the Dubai Courts. However, I do hope you have some time to spare as this will take some time to complete.

Even if your company is no longer in the UAE, the Court can still issue an order to the relevant sector of the MOHRE to allow you to cancel your old labour card and obtain a new one.

Hey,

Sorry for the late reply.

This is an exceptional situation, therefore I recommend you confirm this with the Court, however, I believe you would need to file a case/petition against your previous employer.

And given the nature of the situation, the court will be understanding and render you a quick judgement in absentia of the old employer.

The judgement will allow you to end all ties to the old employer and will be recognised by any relevant government body.

Unfortunately, however, this is a somewhat lengthy procedure, so you would rather start as soon as possible.

MOHRE told me that you have a case with your company but I don't know about any case.

I see, well that is very unfortunate.

You can directly approach the court with your Emirates ID and Passport with old Visa to confirm if there are any ongoing cases with you as a party.

After that, you can inquire about the status of the case. There is an office in court especially for that, just ask a member of the staff and they should assist you.

We can, of course, do that, and finalize the procedure for you if you hire our firm, but I'm uncertain if you wish to do so at the moment, and what your financial situation currently is.
