Executing a will after husband's death

I have a will made in Dubai 10 years ago. I am a non-Muslim ex-pat.

I lost my husband this year. The heir certificate issued is as per Muslim law. How can I get the will executed?

The will has the ministry of justice and the ministry of foreign affairs' stamp. I have an 18-year-old son and assets in Dubai.

Please advise!

Dear questioner,

If the will was registered 10 years back, I guess that it is a will notarized by the Public Notary and not a DIFC will.

To execute such will, you will have to start a court procedure in the Dubai Court. The process can take few months.

If you need more information, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Raluca Gatina.
