Leaving without notice in a limited-term contract and expected legal actions
I entered into a limited-term contract with my employer in Feb 2021. I worked for 2 months and then I traveled to Mumbai for a family medical emergency (Covid).
Now that the flights are suspended, I am stuck in Mumbai. I also resigned from the company since I have to stay back in Mumbai to take care of my house.
My employer is asking for 45 days salary but I don't have any money to pay him. What is the way out?
I also offered him notice from Mumbai but he is refusing and not settling things as well.
Can he put a ban on me?
What are the legal implications if I don't pay him?

Dear Questioner,
Your employer is asking for his legal right as per the UAE labor law.
Since you have terminated the limited contract before its expiry, you are supposed to compensate the employer by paying him 45 days' salary.
There can be an automatic employment ban as well. It is better to amicably resolve the situation.
Since you are outside the UAE, your employer will not be able to file absconding report against you.
However, please note that he may request a one-year ban on the employee.
