Visa renewal while the passport is in custody of police

I have an issue with my sister's boyfriend (Emirati man). My nationality is Croatian.
My sister stays pregnant with him in a non-marriage relationship. He rejects her and he stops any contact with her.
One time I called him to ask why he does that. After few days, the police called me and told me how he opened a case against me. He told the police I want to kill him through the mafia.
I spent 3 nights in custody, I spoke with the public prosecutor, with a judge. They keep my passport and now after one month, I don't know what is the result of all that case. My residence visa expires, I want to solve this.
Please advise me.

In this situation, there are two options.
First, if someone is ready and willing to deposit his/her passport with the Police so that yours is returned.
The second one is to commence the process of renewal of your visa and thereafter file an application with the Police along with the renewal application form so that the Police shall authorize someone to carry the passport for stamping.
Regarding the case, the POA is required to find out the latest development. Once there is a decision which is against you, it is always possible to challenge the same to prove yourself not guilty.
