How to register e-commerce or other companies in the UAE
Hello
I want to open an online store (e-commerce) in Dubai, it will be online clothing store and I will receive the clothes from China by courier and sell it in Dubai. Customers can complete the payment with Pay Pal.
So I would like to know if I need to register this online store, and if yes, what's the procedure. Since the items will be shipped from overseas, then maybe I do not need even to register it.
Please advise

Dear Sir,
I hope you are doing well.
Further to your query, kindly be advised that in order to operate inside the UAE you have to get a trade license issued from Dubai Economic Department, authorising you to perform activities in the UAE.
Performing activities without getting an approval from DED is illegal and is subject to penalties.
Furthermore, please be informed that it will not be an e-commerce license, as e-commerce includes companies operating websites that act as portals to the internet, via PCs and digital devices, in order to link buyers and sellers by listing sellers’ products and to make consumers shop online.
The role of the e-commerce company is restricted to brokerage only. This type of companies is not allowed to conduct business for trading.
As you will be importing clothes from China and then selling them online, our suggestion shall be to open a trading of ready-made garments company in the UAE.
Under this license, you can open your website in addition to advertising and selling your products.
In order to provide you with the procedure, documents required and government cost, kindly provide us with the initial details:
1. How many shareholders will be there in your company?
2. What is the nationality of the shareholders?
3. How many initial visas you require, and how many staff are you planning to employ in the first 12-24 months?
4. How much office space are you seeking to take?
5. Are you planning to conduct your business through agents, distributors?
6. Any specific emirates you want to establish your company in?
After receiving all the above information, we shall be promptly providing you with a tailor-made proposal.
For confidentiality, you can send us the details at info@awsuwaidi-advocates.com or you can call us at 045547635 for meeting us in order to discuss the matter in detail.
We wait for your response.
Regards,
Aws M. Younis
