What should you do if the employer refuses to give a copy of labour contract?

Hello,

Actually, I got a job in the UAE and right now I am working in a private company. Anyhow, I signed the labour contract without reading that because they didn't give me time to read it.

But we forgot about that. Now I got the visa from the employer. I have mailed to my owner and management to send the labour contract copy of mine, which I signed already. But they are saying, it's confidential I can't send it by mail or anything.

If you want to see that labour contract come to the Dubai office and check that. Right now I am working in Abu Dhabi. They are not even paying also.

Could you please give me some idea? Is it a fact what they said, that sending a labour contract is confidential?

Good morning,

Further to your inquiry, please do the following steps:

- Go to Dubai office;

- Take a copy of your contract;

- Read it and ask them for a copy;

- If they accept, it is ok;

- If they did not accept, please call the police instantly;

- Then, you can file a labour complaint against them that they are not paying your salary.

Thanks.

Thanks for your advice, Sir.

But at this moment travelling to Dubai from Abu Dhabi is difficult. That's why I asked them to send that copy through the mail.

That they can do it right, is it a legal way? I want to know whether the labour contract should not be sent through mail or what? Is there any rule?

I heard from one of my friends that as per the rules of the labour contract, one copy should be provided to the employee.

Is that true? Is what I asked them to send by mail right or wrong?

There aren't any rules preventing you to get a copy of your MOL contract.

If it is difficult you can keep sending them emails to provide you with your copy. It is completely your right to get it by email as well.
