Is it legal to publish details of a developer's misconduct on social media?

The penal code of the UAE organized the legal limitations for this type of misconduct not only for developers but for individuals too under articles called (Defamation is a criminal offense) so then you are not able to do any of what you have mentioned.

However, the law guarantees your legal rights if the developer's criminal offense is in his obligations based on the SPA.

When publishing materials to social media, you have to be very careful as some publications may violate the laws in UAE even if the information being published is true and accurate.

The Law No. 5 of 2012 - Combating IT Crimes Law very clearly states in Article 21 that:

"Shall be punished by imprisonment of a period of at least six months and a fine not less than one hundred and fifty thousand dirhams and not in excess of five hundred thousand dirhams or either of these two penalties whoever uses a computer network or and electronic information system or any information technology means for the invasion of privacy of another person in other than the cases allowed by the law and by any of the following ways:

3- Publishing news, electronic photos or photographs, scenes, comments, statements or information even if true and correct."

The law mentioned above is the main law relevant to the publication of information on social media, even if the information does not contain any lies and is completely true and accurate.

However, if the information being published is inaccurate or contains defamation, there will be a whole lot of other laws that may be applicable including the Penal Code.
