Parents liability for the actions of their minor children

I am staying in a building in Al Nahdha, Dubai. The front glass door was broke 3 days back.

According to the building owner and security, my son was standing near the door and it happened because of him.

They say that I have to pay for the damages or they will refer it to the court.

My son is 6 years old, and I would like to know if I am liable to pay the cost of the damages.

The parent or the guardian has vicarious liability over the minor child for any damages or detriment made by him, whether with an intention or in negligence.

If the damages can be proven, you are liable to reimburse your landlord for the damages.

As I understand, for that liability, the kid's age should be above 10 years. Is it true?

No. It is about who would be liable to pay the damages.

As he is your child, under your custody and responsibility of supervision, you are liable for the damages.

My 6-year-old son was standing far from the window when the incident happened and according to the police, his hand is moving so they concluded it is him.

My son is only 6 years old and the glass is toughened one so I doubt how 6-year kid can break the toughened glass.

According to you should I pay the compensation they are asking or should I challenge the police report and go ahead with a case?
