The personal injury (particularly road accidents) falls under tortuous liability under the UAE Laws.

The damages are calculated based solely on the direct or indirect connection between the doer's act and injury caused. The injured person is entitled to compensation for damages and losses borne as a result of the tort.  These damages/losses may include direct damages (medical expenses, loss of property, etc.), loss of profits, loss of opportunity, consequential damages, interests and moral damages.

The amount of compensation for such damages and losses varies from case to case and may depend on the following:

- Income of the injured person and his spendings on the family support,

- Age of the victim,

- The limit of harm caused to the injured person,

- Moral sufferings the victim faced,

- The amount spent by the victim on medical reports and treatment.
