Understanding the rights of the husband during divorce
Hi,
I’ve been married for 7 years with two beautiful children and we are expats living in Dubai (British).
We decided to get divorced and I wanted to understand my rights in regards to the family name as she’s in media and uses my children as pawns on social media sites.
She also puts up pictures that I don’t want to be associated with my family for legal reasons (alcohol-related as she doesn’t have a license and hosts paid media events illegally).
Can I force her to change her surname? Do I have any rights over what pictures of my children are put up on media platforms? Do I have any rights over my family name relating to social media?
Thank you
Dear Questioner,
I would like to get more clarification from you if you are already divorced or you decided to get the divorce but did not proceed with the formalities.
Basically, you have all the right as the father to control posting any pictures of your children or yourself, even against your family members who have no authorization to do so.
This applies especially if you physically, socially or emotionally are harmed or abused by it.
In regards to the changing of the surname, it depends on whether you have formalized the divorce or not yet and on your marriage agreement terms which we have to review to provide you with the relevant advice.
I recommend you to prepare a file of all the photos and posts that you believe harms your family name and your children, including your own photos and come for a meeting to discuss the subject.
You can get in touch directly with me.
Best regards,

Hi,
You can file a divorce case in Dubai Court and also demand to court for custody for your kids if your wife is not properly caring your kids, you rare legally guarding for them.
May I know what is the gender of your kids? For social media restriction, you can also demand to court.
Please feel free to contact me.
