Q: I have been working as a training sales manager for more than 18 months now in a university under a free zone in Dubai.
My employer keeps threatening me that I will lose my job if no students enrolled for short courses within the COVID-19 impacts, however, I'm doing my job and others' jobs on a daily basis.
He is still not satisfied with the results and keeps threatening me every day, I don't know what should I do?
Also, I need to know my rights in case they decided to fire me as they said that they can fire me without any financial rights because of the current circumstances!
Please advice!

Rights of the employee terminated on probation due to COVID-19

0
Q: I understand the issues employers face due to COVID-19. I have entered on a residence entry permit visa end of February.
Last month, I was given a partial-paid leave and the employment contract was terminated on Thursday with immediate effect as I'm on a probation period
I was told that the visa shall be cancelled as it will be expired in a couple of days.
What are my rights? And where does it leave me with regards to immigration status?

Terminating an employee's contract without notice and offering a reduced EoSB

0
Q: My company is registered under Tecom media city. They terminated me without proper notice and are asking me to agree on end of service benefits based on a reduced salary. I have never signed any contract for a reduced salary.
They also asked to sign a form in which it is written that all dues are cleared and they will pay me money over 9 months of equal installments. What should I do as I am in financial trouble? It's difficult to hire a full-time lawyer and stay without money in the UAE.
Can anyone help me to understand whether it is fruitful to fight against the employer and how much time it takes under COVID-19 circumstances?

Delaying the settlement while the unlimited contract is already terminated
1
Q: I have been working for a company for 9 years and 6 months, but I was terminated last September 19, 2019. I served a 1-month notice. My contract is an unlimited contract. I informed our HR that I'm going home for good and not looking for any job.
But until now I didn't receive my settlement (Dh109k as per the account). They keep me waiting here, and I don't have money left to use and pay my rent.
My visa expires in March. Is this legal?
What action do I need to do? I want to go out to the UAE to start a small business in my country.
Please advise me on what to do. I am now more than 3 months without work here in the UAE.
Thank you for any advice!

Gratuity calculation after 5 years of service
1
Q: Good day,
I worked for a semi-government organization for a total of 5 years. I left the company in May this year. Upon leaving, I received 120k (approximately) as gratuity.
In each of the 5 years, my salary was stated as AED65k in the 1-year contracts I had with the company. There was no breakdown of my salary, allowances, etc.
In my last contract, 2021 to 2022, a new clause appeared stating that only 40 % of the AED65k would be a gratuity.
Could you please advise if I should be entitled to the whole AED65k for each one of the 5-year contacts?

Where to file a complaint against a semi-government company?
5
Q: Hi,
Greetings!
I hope you all are doing well!
I want to file a complaint against a semi-government company online regarding the EoSB and salary issue, but I am not able to find the platform to file a complaint. I have checked with MOHRE & FAHR.
As per MOHRE, they only deal with private-sector and LLC companies whereas FAHR deals with only government companies.
They also have no clue where I should go and file the complaint.
Any information, please?
Your kind assistance will be highly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

View allCan a debt agency access AECB reports without consent for a 15-year-old closed case? 0
Dear Respected Lawyers,
Subject: Request for Legal Advice Regarding Unlawful Practices by a Debt Collection Agency
I would greatly appreciate your advice and guidance regarding a troubling issue my colleague is facing with a collection agency.
The company has been contacting the employer, urging them to ask my colleague to get in touch with them regarding a supposed liability.
This claim is related to a 15-year-old closed dispute with a bank credit card, and the issue seems to stem from outdated and inaccurate information on the AECB report.
Our main concerns are as follows:
Unauthorized Access: The company is accessing her AECB report without her consent. She has never given permission for them to retrieve or view her personal financial information.
How is it possible for a third-party agency to openly access and track AECB reports, especially for a dispute that was resolved 15 years ago?

I was evicted from my apartment to be sold but it was gifted and rented at a higher price. What can I do? 0
I was evicted from my apartment after living there for five years. My landlord informed me a year in advance that the lease would not be renewed because he intended to sell the property.
Prior to this, he attempted to impose a rent increase that was not compliant with RERA regulations, which I refused to accept. He then served me with an official Dubai Court eviction notice, citing the need to take back the property for sale.
Five months after I moved out, I discovered the property was rented out at a much higher price. Upon further investigation, I found that the ownership was transferred as a "Gift" rather than a sale.
This makes it seem like the eviction was only to raise the rent rather than a genuine need to sell.
Do I have a valid case for wrongful eviction against my landlord?
Also, under Dubai law, does transferring ownership as a "Gift" hold the same legal grounds as selling in justifying eviction?

I invested money in a business but my partner is removing me out from partnership. Can I pursue legal action? 0
Hi
I'm an Irish citizen and a resident of the United Kingdom. I got investment fraud in Dubai. I invested money into a business with a Pakistani national guy in March 2024 via bank transfer into his business account.
Now he's giving back the money which I invested in business after 9 months. He's preparing a letter from a local lawyer to kick me out of the business. I do not have any other option than to take out at least my money.
But it's unfair to me that he used my money in business and took all the advantage.
Some people say to me that if you claim money or take legal action against him, it will take too much time and I need to travel to Dubai to appear in court because it is a civil matter. But I'm not a resident.
How can I follow the civil case there?
That's why my partner knows that I can not do anything and this case keeps running long time and in the end nothing happens. But I'm thinking that I will submit a complaint through my embassy and I also have a solicitor in the United Kingdom.
