Resignation during the unpaid leave period due to COVID-19

I am a manager in a UAE company, I have served 2 years on an unlimited contract. I have been instructed I am on unpaid leave for a 3-month period in light of the current situation.

The company is asking me to sign an annexe to my contract that I accept this unpaid leave period. If I do accept, can I still resign during this 3-month unpaid leave period if I get another job?

Dear Questioner

The annexe is supplementary to your original employment contract and it should only amend the agreement of unpaid leave salary for 3 months.

However, the other terms of your employment contract would be still in force and you may resign as per these terms (time of notice, dues... etc.) as well as the terms of labour law which is considered as part of the employment contract.
