How to go for vacation in COVID-19 lockdown and get passport from employer

Good day!

I've been working here in Kuwait for 1 year and 4 months. I asked my employer if I could go home since we are in the lockdown due to COVID-19, and no work, no pay.

He refused instead and said we can only request for a vacation and we are the one to buy our own ticket but then he refused again. He didn't want to give us our passport.

What will I do?

Hope you can help me.

The employer has no right to hold your passport, neither to prevent you from travelling nor to terminate your employment (resignation).

However, the consequences differ if your contract is a limited period or open contract and if you are a local hire

The problem is there is no court working, otherwise, you may file a lawsuit.

The other option you can go to the police and ask them to help you to obtain your passport or to your Embassy if your country is evacuating.
