The effect of a police case on work application after paying the fine

Dear Raluca,

I hope you do not mind direct outreach. I just really would appreciate it if you could answer my query. I'm sure you get a lot of messages so I promise this will only take 30 seconds to read.

I lived in Dubai previously from June 2015 - Feb 2019 working for Emirates Airlines. I had an incident with Dubai Police in 2018 which was completely my fault. I paid a fine of 2000AED for not having an alcohol license which I completely accepted and paid immediately and continued to work.

In 2019, I returned to the UK and I am currently trying to reapply for Etihad Airways. I wanted to ask you if my incident would come up as a red flag for my application?

I appreciate this is a bit of an odd request than what I'm sure you normally get but if you could give me any guidance, I would really appreciate it. I totally understand if you are too busy to respond but even a one to two lined reply would make my day.

Thank you!

Dear ma'am,

Did the police open any criminal complaint under your name? If there was no criminal complaint opened by the police, only a fine paid, then you should not face any issues.

However, if you would like to make sure that there are no criminal records registered under your name, I suggest you to hire a lawyer to perform a travel ban checking for you.

I can help you and approach the relevant authorities and check if there are criminal records under your name.

In order to do this, I need a Power of Attorney (POA) from you, allowing me to represent you in front of the relevant authorities in the UAE.

I will provide you with the template of the POA after you will send me a scanned copy of your passport, UAE visa, and previous Emirates ID.

The POA needs to be notarized and attested by the UAE Embassy in the country of issuance. Once the POA is notarized and attested, you will courier the original to our office.

Once I receive the original POA, I will attest it here in UAE Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and then check your police and immigration records. After checking I will issue a report and advise you on the next steps (in case there are some criminal records under your name).

Please feel free to approach me directly via email.

Best Regards,

Raluca Gatina

Dear Raluca,

Thank you so much for getting back to me. I do not have a travel ban from the UAE as I went there in November 2019, I would, however, consider following the process that you have suggested.

Please could you give me a quote for these services? Also, I am currently in the UK. If it is more convenient for you, I will email you if you prefer?

Best Regards,

Dear ma'am,

Our fee for drafting the POA, attesting it in MOFA (after we receive the original from you), and performing the checking for you is USD 400 + AED 300 for the out of pocket expenses (MOFA and translation fee).

In case you wish to continue with our services, please email me the passport copy, Emirates ID and visa page.

Thank you & stay safe!

Best Regards,

Raluca Gatina
