Domestic helper's resignation during the probation period and visa costs

Hi Sir/Ma'am,

I've been working here in the UAE for 15 years as a domestic helper.

Now, I have a new employer who is an expat. They have already issued a visa for me. My problem is that I'm not happy to work with them.

Do I have a probation period for 6 months?

Should I pay the whole year visa costs to them?

Thank you!

Hi,

Yes, you have a probation period for 6 months under UAE domestic workers' law. You don't need anything if you leave in this period; your agency will pay to your employer and for your ticket.

If you resign after probation period, then the following law will apply:

"If the contract is terminated by the worker for a reason of his/her own after the probation period, he/she shall bear the expenses of his return to his/her home country and pay to the employer compensation equal to one month’s total wages."
