Short term lease in Dubai

There are many of private apartments in Dubai advertised as holiday homes for short-term rent. As far as I know, there is a special regulation of such leasing in Dubai, requiring a permission from the government authorities. How can I be sure, that booking of an apartment for a short stay, let's say through Airbnb, is legal? What documents should I ask from the landlord to be on a safe side?

Short term lease is normal lease because there is no special requirement for the lease term. The required documents will be title deed of the unit and it has to be mentioned that property use is service/ hotel apartments. For more info, please feel free to contact me. Thanks & regards.

I'm talking about standard residential apartments, not hotel apartments. Is it legal to deal with the owner (physical person) directly to book a short stay in his property?

And what about mandatory registration of holiday homes with DTCM as per decree 41 of 2013?

You should verify with the Dubai Tourism office. This is the entity that is handling the issue that you specifically mention in your initial question. They are regulating situations such as Airbnb, like you mention.

The Dubai Tourism office just recently signed an agreement with Airbnb. But to be sure that the individual, whom you seek a booking from, has followed all of the proper procedures, you should directly contact the Dubai Tourism office.
