The consequences of defaulting on a cheque
I have a cheque of 7.500 AED due on the 15th of this month November and I don't have the complete amount to pay!
What can I do?

Dear questioner,
I would suggest you to speak with the landlord and inform him that you don't have enough funds on your account and request him to postpone cheque submission for 1 month until you borrow some funds to fulfill your obligation toward him.
In case he doesn't accept, unfortunately, you cannot do much.
In case he will submit the cheque to the bank and the cheque is bounced, they have the right to open a criminal complaint against you.
Once the criminal complaint is opened, your name will be blacklisted and you will not be allowed to exit the UAE unless you settle the dispute or until the case is closed and a fine issued under your name.
Once the fine is issued, you can pay the fine and delete your name from the wanted list.
However, in case you don't settle the dispute and you don't pay the rent amount until the criminal case is closed, the landlord has the right to open a civil case against you and file for eviction.
In case you need our help and support, feel free to contact me anytime via email.
